Fatherland, patriotic wars and the russian memorial culture: the nature and the forms of expression in time and space
(Part 1)

Abstract.
The paper shows that the Fatherland is one of the main values for people of Russian state. The authors have analyzed the presence of the concept of Fatherland in the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, manifestos, appeals, speeches of the leaders of the Russian Federation. The peculiarities of Russia, the Fatherland and the Patriotic War are revealed. The authors give the characteristic of the popular movement of Time of Troubles, the Patriotic War of 1812, World War I and the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 as patriotic wars.

The paper reveals the state meaning of historical and cultural monuments: The Millennium of Russia monument; To Citizen Minin and Prince Pozharsky from grateful Russia, 1818; The Cathedral of Christ the Savior; The monument to the Heroes of World War I; Memorial of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow. It is concluded that the source of power of Russia is in the wealth and the inviolability of the traditions of patriotism and selfless defense of the Fatherland, the unity of the nation in the face of external danger.
