Labyrinths of pseudo-history. A review of the book by Yuri Brodsky ‘Solovki. Labyrinth of Transformations’

Abstract. A new historical and journalistic book by Yu. Brodsky is designed to introduce the reader into the unique world of the natural, cultural and spiritual heritage of the Solovki archipelago, to acquaint him with the history of Solovki and all of Russia. The author of the review shows how Brodsky falsifies information sources and is engaged in «rewriting» of Russian history in the fight against traditional Russian Orthodox culture.

Key words: history, Orthodoxy, medieval Russia, Solovetsky archipelago, Reverend Savvaty and Herman Solovetsky, White Sea, Korel coast, local population, monasticism, «miraculous» phenomenon, Solovetsky Savior Transfiguration Monastery, Solovetsky Special Purpose Camp.

Stolyarov Vyacheslav Pavlovich,
historian, essayist,
Head of the Research Section of the Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Solovetsky Archipelago and the White Sea (1999-2011) of the Russian Scientific Research Institute for Cultural and Natural Heritage named after D.Likhachev (Moscow).
