Abstract. This article examines the tourism potential of the natural, historical, and cultural sites of the Republic of South Ossetia. It identifies challenges in preserving cultural heritage and recognizing it internationally. It also substantiates the importance of utilizing historical and cultural assets for the development of the republic's tourism infrastructure overall, particularly for promoting various types of tourism, of which ethnic and ecological tourism, such as ecocamps, are currently being successfully developed.
