The article describes the strategic functions of a modern Museum in the local socio-cultural space of the modern city on the basis of the methodology of system approach to urban social and cultural space; addressing the issue of the functions of a modern Museum in the formation of urban local identity and the socialization of citizens, educational and scientific, as well as mediation-communicative and leisure activities in the urban socio-cultural environment in shaping and maintaining the image of the city.
