Abstract. A brief essay of the life and work of the great Russian icon painter Andrey Rublev (circa 1360 - 1430). Rublev’s creativity is not only the absolute peak of the culture of medieval Russia, but also a worthy conclusion of the historical development of Byzantine painting. The article scrutinizes a series of discussion points related to the biography and interpretation of the artist's heritage.
