Abstract. Almost all theories of solidarity fix attention to negative solidarity - unification in the face of an external enemy or a common threat. The article is about the little-studied phenomenon of the solidarity of civilizations, which does not yet have its own forms of institutionalization at the level of international politics. There are dominating types of political solidarity - pragmatic and opportunistic. However, the relevance and social significance of the problem posed increases sharply against the backdrop of globalization, intercivilizational conflicts and the proliferation of theories, justifying the inevitable clash of world civilizations. Particular attention is paid to a specific understanding of solidarity in Russian religious philosophy and numerous modern theories.
Key words: civilization theory, types of political solidarism, political institutions, solidarity of civilizations, traditions of Russian philosophy, civilizational identity, intercivilizational contacts.
