Abstract. This article analyses the management problem of the World Heritage sites in the context of armed conflict on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. The research is focused on one of the six world heritage sites in Syria – Ancient villages of the North of Syria. In particular, the article describes the problems of the existence of the monument in crisis conditions, threats and risk factors, as well as measures taken to preserve the site. As the result the study provides recommendations for post-conflict response and recovery.
