Terror and culture: N.N. Strakhov explains modernity
Abstract. One of the first to prove the connection of terrorism with the type of cultural consciousness was the Russian philosopher of the classical age, Nikolai Nikolaevich Strakhov. This type of consciousness was profoundly described by him as «nihilistic», manifested in the culture of «negative direction», «shocking denunciation», lackey Westernism. «Strakhov's Lessons» allow us to understand those modern cultural processes that are aimed at aesthetic (at the first stage) and social (at the second) chaos and fear.

Key words: terror, culture, nihilism, literary terror, false sanctity, fears, letters about nihilism.
