Abstract. The article shows the dynamics of improvement of military disciplinary legislation of Russia in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. It is emphasized that Milyutin's military reform led to changes in all aspects of the life of the troops, including in the sphere of strengthening military discipline. It is concluded that as a result of extensive military legal work, the Russian army by the beginning of the First World War received new regulations that strictly outlined the legal field within which work was carried out to strengthen military discipline.
