Abstract. The author turns to Russian folk song as a source of ethnocultural and regional studies information. The study was carried out on the basis of the titles of Russian folk songs. The paper presents the results of an analysis of the study sample. The subject of the study is the titles of Russian folk songs with a toponymic element. The author set out to identify relevant titles, determine the main marking features of geographical onyms in song titles, thematically classify the presented geographical onyms and briefly characterize them in accordance with the established marking features.
