Abstract. The world culture history makes obvious the unyielding opposition between the local cultural diversity and social progress when a growth of the one part causes decrease or slow-up of the other. This conflict is particularly challenging to-day when social dynamics drastically accelerates while traditional cultures are being de facto pushed out to the roadside of history. In this situation, e.g. the interrelations between the social progress and Islam tradition become more and more tense and even turn into the armed resistance of the latter. However, the general trend towards ousting traditional culture from the playground of co-temporary cultural phenomena seems to remain inevitable.
Key words: social progress, traditional culture, post-industrial society, local cultural diversity, social transformations of contemporary culture
