Absrtact. The first section of the publication includes the correspondence between I.S.Zilberstein and S.A.Makashin, which documenting the history of the formation editorial office of ‘Literary Heritage’ in the early years of its formation, the work of employees and the authors on the first volumes of the series, which dedicated to Pushkin, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Goethe, Chernyshevsky, Dobrolyubov, Sleptsov, writers, journalists and social life of the 1860s, literature and writers of the XVIII century.
