Abstract. The study of the history of Moscow entrepreneurship and the formation of traditions of the industrial and merchant community not only raises an important question about the preservation and development of these traditions, but also makes it extremely relevant in our time. In articles and monographs devoted to the industrial development of Russia, researchers have repeatedly addressed the analysis of the peculiarities of the formation of entrepreneurship in the pre-revolutionary period. This article focuses on the image of the Moscow entrepreneur of the last third of the 19th – early 20th century and offers a look at the importance of preserving the socio-cultural characteristics of Moscow entrepreneurs. The article is aimed at analyzing and understanding the role of these traditions in shaping society and the economy of that time.
