Ryukyuan Mythology: Myths on Creation of Оecumene and the Origins of a Human Society (Part 1)

Abstract. The article examines the mythology of Ryukyu: cosmogonic myths (myths about the creation of the known world and man) and the myths of the origin of society, the country and the establishment of the state in two variations – state (courtier) and folk mythology. Basic sources on the issue are used: Omoro So:shi, Ryu:kyu: Shinto:ki, Chu:zan Seikan, etc.

The article is illustrated with photos by the Author.
