Abstract. The article examines the legislative framework underlying the state cultural policy in the field of preservation and use of intangible material cultural heritage in Russia. The importance of joint efforts of the state and society in solving problems related to the protection and development of cultural heritage is emphasized, and examples of successful practices in this area are given. At the same time, the most pressing problems related to the preservation of cultural heritage sites are noted, which, in the author's opinion, need to be addressed in the very near future. In this regard, the issue of measures to support citizens, companies, public associations who are ready to invest their labor, time and money in the restoration of cultural heritage sites becomes especially relevant.
