Social Institutions: Essays in Cultural Analysis

Abstract: The article analyses ‘social institute’ as a category, which is traditional for sociology; its inter-relation with the notion of ‘culture’ is considered. The author concludes that the notion of culture is primary in relation to the notion of social institute. In its turn, a social institute may be regarded as a form representing culture and a mechanism for realisation of its intrinsic functions.
