A Journey as the Oecumene in Search of Its Limits<br>A Book Review

Abstract. The review examines logical interrelations of various aspects in the «Russian traveling», which is the main subject of the symposium The Golden Age of Grand Tour: A Journey as a Cultural Phenomenon (Moscow, 2012). The reviewer claims that the multifaceted study of these liaisons has predetermined the conceptual integrity of the book, the authors which focus on the «Russian travelling» as a species of European journey. However, a Russian journey in a way opposes modern European understanding of travelling as it always has a hint of pilgrimage.
