Abstract. In the article an attempt is made to comprehend the legacy of Moisey S. Kagan, who was an outstanding Russian academician and philosopher. The author undertakes an in-depth analysis of foundations of both his world outlook and methodology, of the fruitful ideological content alongside with conceptual limitations of his all-embracing cultural and philosophical world picture.
