UDC 008:001.38 Grigoriev A. Reflections on a Possible Demarcation of Culturology as a Separate Field in the University Education Abstract. Basing on etymology, the author proposes interpreting culture as a “cultivating veneration” and considers some of the definitions of culture, beginning from those by Cicero and Aurelius Ambrosius and to those by Pavel Florensky and Tartu Semiotic School representatives, in order to justify the proposed criteria for evaluation of the grant applications submitted to the Oxford Russia Fund.
