UDC 929:008(091) Ikonnikova S. Biography as a Socio-Cultural Dimension of History Abstract. The author characterises the general features, significance, and advantages of biographical research, as well as the limitations of the biographical genre for the historical cognition. The biographical method is analysed relating to various types of research since it provides a possibility to consider a variety of historical events’ realisation and diverse attitudes towards them. A typology of biographical research is proposed.
