Abstract. The article is devoted to Kirill Razlogov’s academic biography. The author analyses his interest in methodological issues of film study and notes his fascination with structuralism in times of general propagation of structuralist mode of reasoning in academic fields in the Soviet Union. Over time, the inclination to address methodological issues leads Dr Razlogov to more general cultural research, which, as the author believes, has become an organic continuation of his academic interests. His explorations in methodological issues of cultural research do not distract him from the more specific problems concerned with film art and his books published recently provide the best evidence of that. The author also addresses Dr Razlogov’s activities in the capacity of the research organisation man and director of the Russian Institute for Cultural Research.
