Abstract. The publication is timed to the 90th anniversary of Moisey S. Kagan who was a famous Russian philosopher, cultural researcher, and one of the founders of the Russian culturology, whose concepts of cultural philosophy and value theory are widely known.  He was also a famous academician and the author reminds the first personal acquaintance with M.S.Kagan who became the Teacher for her. The article is also focused on development of Kagan’s most important philosophical and pedagogical ideas; their substance is analysed in connection with possibilities of using them in pedagogical process of integral personality building.
