Abstract. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the ideological work carried out by Soviet state and political bodies to counter Ukrainian nationalism in the first post-war decade. It demonstrates that this work was systematic and included political, social, and educational measures. Based on the analysis of historical documents, the article reveals the problematic aspects of the organization of ideological work, which were caused by objective factors and the cultural and historical characteristics of the western regions of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
