Abstract. The article substantiates the methodological role of culturology in the study of military heritage. Special attention is paid to the shift from narrow disciplinary studies to a comprehensive culturological analysis that reconstructs the military past as an integral socio-cultural phenomenon. The novelty of the approach lies in the integration of semiotic, anthropological and memorial tools; its relevance is determined by the need for responsible memorialization and counteraction to falsifications. The article shows how the research object has changed: from collecting material artefacts to cultural memory, symbolic practices and narratives. The most significant conclusions concern the grounding of culturology as an integrative platform for studying identity politics, museum practices and the formation of historical consciousness.
Keywords: culturology, military heritage, cultural memory, historical consciousness, memorial culture, military-historical anthropology, museification, identity.
