Abstract. The main task of the publication is to fix and determine the principles for solving the scientific problem associated with the influence of dissertation research and the processes of their preparation on modern Russian cultural studies, the structure of its scientific schools and methodological approaches. Key attention is paid to the characterization of historiography, the source base and research methodology, based on certain ideas of post-structuralism and the possibilities of the digital humanities. As a result of the first stage of scientific work, a matrix of a relational database summarizing information from mass sources (abstracts of dissertations) is presented and substantiated, which is considered as a meta-source for further study and solution of a wide range of scientific issues.
